SKIN ANALYSIS
Most of us know that we need to treat our skin, but we have no idea where to start or what to do.
This is where the professionals step in to do a skin analysis and advise you.
The therapist will study your skin underneath a brightly lit mag lamp to determine your skin type, skin conditions, and the best course of treatment, both during your facial and with home products. We can easily see conditions such as oily, congested skin with breakouts; dry, dull, aging skin; red or highly sensitive skin; and fine lines and wrinkles.
You will be asked a number of questions about your skin concerns, diet, medications, exercise, fluid intake, etc so that we can determine what’s most important to you. A skin analysis is added to any of the facials to allow us to cleanse the skin, open the pores and start with a treatment procedure immediately.
On completion of the facial and skin analysis you will be handed a sample pack with all products relevant to your skin concerns to continue treatment at home. Your therapist will also give you further homecare advice and how to maintain a balanced skin.
FACIALS
A facial is the term used for skin treatments performed by a qualified therapist. There are a variety of facials and different products are used for different concerns.
Facials are generally very comfortable and soothing, although the extractions in a deep cleanse can cause slight discomfort, although this step plays a big role in a deep cleanse. After a deep cleanse facial your skin may be a little irritated and red. You shouldn’t plan to have a deep cleanse facial within a few days of major events where you want to look your best. For instance don’t get a facial the day of or the day before your wedding or matric dance.
If you have chosen a Spa Facial, you may request to not have the extractions, particularly if your focus is aging or hydration, the extractions will then be replaced by a relaxing facial massage. The Spa Facial focuses mainly on anti-aging, treating pigmentation, revitalising tired skin, rehydrating dry skin and reducing redness or sensitivity.
After the Spa Facial, your skin will look terrific with a beautiful glow.
If you have any skin sensitivities or allergies, you should discuss this with your therapist prior to commencing treatment. We advise that you keep your skin clean from makeup for 24 hours after the treatment to prolong the results of the facial.
PEELS
The treatment using facial peels is aimed at the removal of skin problems like blemishes, wrinkles, scarring, pigmentation, uneven skin tone and dull skin. Your skin appears younger and rejuvenated after the treatment. A peel essentially imparts a new and brighter appearance to the skin.
The peel exploits the skin’s ability to heal itself. A peel basically breaks down the protein bonds between dead skin cells and removes the dead skin thus bringing a fresh and new layer of skin to the surface. The peel mixture is applied to the skin and left on it for some time. The skin becomes softer and easier to remove or exfoliate. After the skin is rinsed, a fresh new skin comes on the top.
The skin will continue to flake for a few days after the treatment. Since skin peeling brings a new skin to the surface, it also implies that the newly exposed skin is slightly sensitive. To protect this new skin against sun damage, it is important to wear the DermaFix DermaShield SPF40/SPF50.
The DermaFix DermaPolish enzymatic exfoliator is used when flaking begins following the procedure, to smooth out the skin. Though peels are quite effective, don’t expect a single treatment to cure all your skin problems. Often more than one sitting is required to achieve a noticeable difference, especially in the case of light peels.
If you have any skin sensitivities or allergies, you should discuss this with your therapist prior to commencing treatment. We advise that you keep your skin clean from makeup for 24 hours after the treatment and avoid direct sun exposure for 24 hours.
MICRODERMBRASION
Microdermabrasion is a quick, no downtime procedure that renews the skin by lifting dead cells off the skin’s surface by means of a gentle polishing with a diamond plated head. With a series of microdermabrasion procedures you can quickly achieve substantial improvement in the appearance of superficial lines and uneven pigmentation, while making your skin look and feel softer, smoother, and more radiant.
Acne scars and enlarged pores will become less noticeable, and acne breakouts are reduced.
Usually the skin is back to normal immediately after a mild microdermabrasion procedure and makeup may be applied soon after your session.
With each additional treatment, you should see incremental gains in the overall appearance of the skin. Your skin feels tighter and smoother. You are to care for your skin by using a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser for 3-5 days, such as the DermaFix Gentle Cleanser, as well as protecting your new skin with DermaFix DermaShield SPF40/SPF50. In addition, it is best to avoid prolonged sun exposure.
Skin conditions can be treated in only 6 treatments with sessions 2-4 weeks apart. If the area concern is severe, more treatments may be necessary.
Microdermabrasion safely treats all skin types without pain or down-time.
MICRONEEDLING
An effective alternative to laser resurfacing, where micro channels are created to facilitate new collagen production, promoting self-healing of the skin and increases the penetration of active ingredients to the underlying structures, reaching the base directly.
MicroNeedling softens fine lines and wrinkles, reduces enlarged pores and improves texture, reduces pigmentation, rebuilds the barrier of the skin. To achieve optimal results, 6 sessions, four weeks/28days apart are to be maintained.
A compulsory consultation is to be carried out in advance. A starter pack will be paid for at the consultation which will consist of your dermaroller, a facial kits, specialized products to be used in your treatments and 6 Microneedling sessions.
The treatment may not be carried out on clients with active acne skins, haemophiliacs, diabetics, keloid scarring, chemotherapy patients. Clients who have been on a course of roaccutane have a waiting period of 3-6 months.
The skin will be red and sensitive after the treatment, therefore we advise this treatment be carried out when you are not to return to work or attend an event the same day.
If you have any skin sensitivities or allergies, you should discuss this with your therapist at the consultation. Makeup may not be applied for 24 hours after the treatment, direct sun exposure is to be avoided for 24 hours.
FACIAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
An external suction is applied to the surface tissues of the face, applying pressure to the vessels, causing lift and stimulation of the underlying structures. A gliding motion is used to move lymph toward the lymph nodes.
Blood and lymphatic vessels dilate, improving circulation, reducing swelling, has a lifting effect on the skin, loosens blackheads, and improves the appearance of the skin.
Clients who have extensively stretched skin, broken veins and thrombosis may not perform this procedure.
