Cracked heels are very common. They can be very painful, unattractive, and upsetting – especially to those of us who love open back shoes.

Usually, cracked skin on our heels and feet is caused by excessively dry skin, resulting in thickening and ultimately fissuring of the skin. Going barefoot and wearing shoes with open backs can exacerbate the problem. Some people have a naturally dry skin that predisposes them to cracks. The thickened dry skin (callus) around the heel is more likely to crack due to mechanical factors that increase pressures in that area, such as the way you walk.

Unfortunately, as the condition worsens, it becomes more difficult to treat at home, since regular moisturisers won’t penetrate the dry, dead, thick skin on our heels. If the cracks on your feet are minor enough to be a nuisance and not a medical issue, there is a very simple and painless solution to cracked heels.

Our heel peel is a treatment that removes the thickened skin on the heels and soles of the feet, creating a more supple skin and removing or reducing the tendency and occurrence of cracks. Heel peels break down and removes the dead skin without irritation or pain.

Have the heel peel as a stand-alone treatment or combine with a pedicure for some pampering. Never used blades on the heels, as this thickens the skin further in the long run. If your heels are severely cracked, then you’ll have to see your Podiatrist, your therapist will advise you accordingly.
